Training on Prosecution Cases of TIP and Joint Recommendations in Savannakhet

Technical officers of the Office of Supreme People’s Prosecutor attends a training on Prosecution Cases of Trafficking in Persons.

Savannakhet – IOM Mission in the Lao People’s Democratic Republic in collaboration with Institute of Research and Training Prosecutor, Department of Planning and International Cooperation of Office of Supreme People’s Prosecutor conducted a training on Prosecution Cases of Trafficking in Persons and Joint Recommendations between Office of Supreme People’s Prosecutor, Ministry of Public Security, and People’s Supreme Court to technical officers of the Office of Supreme People’s Prosecutor, Provincial Office of People’s Prosecutor of Savannakhet, Saravan, Xekong, Champasak, Attapeu, and National Assembly of Saravan, Lao Women’s Union at Kaysone Capital, Savannakhet Province.

The training possessed the objective of combating human trafficking through reinforcing judicial capacity for law enforcement officials working in the justice and protecting sector through enhancing the direction of party and law of state into daily work, ensuring the quality of performance on duty of prosecutor with their paradigm and scientific workplan, and creating deeper understanding and unity of authorities from Investigation Police Department and Office of People’s Prosecutor to counter Human Trafficking in Person with a deeper knowledge of law and comprehensive evidence to ensure the legal proceedings are more transparent, and lawful.

Throughout the training, the participants have broadened their understanding of elements of Trafficking in Persons, how human trafficking case are being monitored at the People's Prosecutor's Office level, the level of prosecutors have the right to monitor human trafficking cases, the level of prosecutors have the right to monitor human trafficking cases as well as international conventions on human trafficking.

The training was co-chaired by Mme. Phonephet OUKEO, Director General of the Institute of Research and Training Prosecutor and Ms. Shareen TULADHAR, Chief of Mission of the International Organization for Migration. In addition, the mentioned meeting has recently been conducted in Northern, Central, and Southern provinces on the same topic delivered by in-house master trainers of Institute of Research and Training Prosecutor, Office of Supreme People’s Prosecutor.
