MoU Signing Ceremony on National and Local Capacity Building to Combat Trafficking in Persons in the Lao PDR
Vientiane – 30 June 2022, International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the Office of the Secretariat to The National Committee on Anti Trafficking in Persons jointly agreed to sign the Memorandum of Understanding Signing Ceremony on “National and Local Capacity Building to Combat Trafficking in Persons in the Lao People’s Democratic Republic.” at Lao Plaza Hotel, Vientiane Capital.
The signing ceremony was co-chaired by Ms. Shareen Tuladhar, Chief of Mission, IOM Lao PDR and Colonel Latsamy Xayyakham, Director General of the Department of Police Anti-human Trafficking and Head of the Office of the Secretariat to the National Committee on Anti-human Trafficking in Persons. In the meeting, relevant representative from line ministries, and donors also participated.
The MOU has been signed on the three-year project that received a generous fund from the U.S Department of State Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons (J/TIP). This project is designed to assist the National Committee on Anti-Trafficking in Persons’ efforts in all 3P’s (Protection, Prevention and Prosecution) through the Office of Secretariat to the National Committee on Anti-Trafficking in Person (SAHT)
“The project will support the Office of Secretariat to the National Committee on Anti-Trafficking in Person (SAHT) in the dissemination of the recently approved National Plans of Actions on Anti-Trafficking in Persons (Phase III 2021-2025), development of the provincial plans of actions with the focus in Bokeo, Luang Namtha, Sayyabouly, Luang Prabang and Vientiane provinces and IOM stands ready to support the government of Lao PDR to achieve the goal of anti-human trafficking works in an effective and timely manner.” Ms. Shareen Tuladhar, Chief of Mission at IOM Lao PDR stated.
